Self-Publishing with Training Wheels
You've written a book. Congratulations, that's the hard part nobody can do for you.

Now you're standing at the edge of the gold fields with a nugget in your hand, and everyone has advice. Buy this course. Use that tool. You MUST be on this platform. Half of what you'll read online is outdated, and the other half is trying to sell you something on the way out the door.

Here's what I offer instead: sit down with me, bring your beverage of choice, and let's walk the whole road together. By the end of this class you'll have your book published in the stores you chose, a real author business behind it, and a workable plan for selling it. Better: you'll understand every step you took, so you can do it all again for book two without me.
First, Some Numbers
The average indie book sells around 200 copies. Some traditionally published books sell fewer than a dozen.

Why start there? Because writers who start with realistic expectations build businesses that survive them. I've watched a writer quit a month after launch, right before her sales arrived. I've watched others spend their grocery money because a guru promised them the maze had a shortcut. I would rather hand you a realistic map and teach you to dig.

You can absolutely make a living at this. I know many writers who do. None of them got there by believing the hype.
How the Class Works
This is a self-paced class, and it's chatty. I'll ask you questions and expect you to actually think about them. If you have a finished manuscript, bring it: we'll use the class to publish it for real, step by step. If you don't, you'll leave with the full map for when you're ready.

You're not alone in here, either. Ask questions in the lesson comments or email me directly. I answer. Publishing changes daily, and I update these lessons as it changes, so what you're reading stays as up-to-date as I can make it.
What We'll Cover
Moving to the Gold Country.
Why indie, who you are as a writer, branding without the ick, and a definition of success you can actually build on.

Staking Your Claim.
How this industry actually works and what the words mean, so nobody can baffle you with jargon. Then the claim itself: your name, your website, your email list. You'll learn what you own, what you only rent, and why that difference will matter for the rest of your career. Plus finding your readers on the one or two platforms worth your time, without becoming a spammer.

Working the Dirt.
Getting the manuscript ready for the world: editing, modern formatting tools that do in one click what used to take a week, covers (including the AI art question, head-on), and an optional look under the hood at HTML for the brave.

Filing and Cashing Out.
The step-by-step of actually publishing: where to publish, ISBNs and copyright, uploading without tears. Then the money side: reading your statistics without losing your mind, contracts and discounts, the weekly marketing rhythm that sells books, and making sure the venues actually pay you.

Packing Out.
The capstone: your book is a nugget, but your story world is the vein it washed out of, and that vein can feed your career for decades. We'll finish with how to protect it, and a resource list that stays stocked as tools change.

Twelve lessons, a capstone, and a resource list I keep current. Work through it in a focused month or a comfortable year. Your pace.
Who This Is For
Writers with a book ready (or nearly ready) who want to publish it right the first time. Writers who published once, hated the confusion, and want to actually understand it this round. Writers rebuilding after a platform or publisher let them down.

You do not need to be technical. If you can email a file to a friend, you have all the skills we'll start with.

If you're looking for someone to promise you six figures by summer, I'm the wrong teacher.
About Your Guide
I started my publishing company in 2011, after watching a publisher refuse to give a dying friend the book he wanted. Since then I've published more writers than I can count, built and rescued author websites for a living, and walked writer after writer through this exact process one-on-one, usually over tea. This class is that conversation, bottled.
